Carl E. Zapffe

Carl E. Zapffe has been a litigation attorney since 2005. At the state level, he has extensive experience litigating matters throughout New York and New Jersey, and at the federal level, he has extensive experience litigating matters throughout the country.

Since he began his career as a litigation attorney nearly twenty years ago, he has litigated thousands of matters, encompassing a wide array of disputes, both contract- and tort-related, as well as matters involving numerous different types of statutes and common-law causes of action.

Carl also has a considerable amount of appellate experience (both at the state and federal level), and has even argued a matter before a rare en banc panel of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals—a matter in which he won 13-0, and a decision which was subsequently affirmed by the Supreme Court of the United States.

Prior to joining the firm, Carl practiced at several national law firms, where he represented some of the largest and most well-known companies in the world. He enthusiastically agreed to join Held & Hines LLP in early 2024, and is thrilled to be able put his litigation-related knowledge and skills to work on behalf of the firm’s clients.

Carl was born and raised just outside of Chicago, but moved to New York City as soon as he graduated law school because he was always drawn to the pace and atmosphere of the financial and cultural capital of the world. He now resides in New Jersey, with his lovely wife and two amazing sons.
